End to the 2014 SWS season at the Spit
September 12, 2014
Another amazing season of windward therapy comes to a close.
The SWS staff (Andrea, Eileen, Alyssa and Denham) and directors would like to thank all the users for helping make the Spit such an amazing place to sail! Many improvements to the infrastructure and organization of the Spit this year but it only works when people are positive and engaged in the scene, which is exactly what we saw!
Expect to see more upgrades next year in some key areas that will directly benefit all users. If you would like to hear about them or have your own ideas please join us at the AGM meeting this fall where we discuss and vote on everything spit related. The meeting, typically held in North Vancouver, is THE place to have your voice heard! Keep an eye on our website http://www.squamishwindsports.com/ and www.kiteboardbc.com for an announcement of the AGM date.
Please send any and all feed back for the year to swsmgmt@gmail.com
With that I would like to remind members and users that, according to our sublicense with the District of Squamish, SWS operations will be officially over for the season on September 15. SWS Staff may be at the Spit after that date to conduct cleanup of the grounds but there will be no rescues after September 15. SWS strongly discourages the use of the Spit for wind sports outside of the wind sports season which is from May 15 to September 15.
If you choose to kite or windsurf at the spit after September 15 please stay out of the estuary and Wildlife Management Area and pack all your garbage out.
Maybe we will break attendance records this weekend?
See you on the water!
